Every year the Social Security Administration issues a publication laying out the schedule of Social Security benefit payments for the year ahead. This document details the payment dates for:
- Social Security benefit payments
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments
- Payments of Social Security Benefits prior to May 1997
- Payments for those receiving both Social Security and SSI.
Beneficiaries can expect electronic payments via direct deposit or their Direct Express® card on these payment dates. Beneficiaries who still receive paper checks may require additional time to receive their payments and are advised to wait three additional mailing days before contacting the Social Security Administration if they have not received their check.
Most federal benefit payments are available through Direct Express® (see A Growing Program).
